  • Increases shine, softness, manageability

Let’s Talk About The Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil:

Olaplex No. 7 is a staple in my hair care routine; it is a product that I CAN NOT live without. It protects and repairs my hair both in the summer and winter months when the environment makes hair pretty brittle.

In the wintertime, my hair craves oil like nothing else; the coldness in the hair strips my hair from moisture. My hair craves oil and moisture as much as I crave a warm hot chocolate in front of the fire. As for the summer months, the July/August rays are not my hair’s best friend; they strip moisture and cause my ends to become very dry and brittle.

This is when I tried Olaplex No. 7 for the first time and released the importance of UV protection; it’s like going out on a hot summer’s day without any SPF; your hair needs protection too!! This oil is not only brilliant for styling, but it also offers both thermal up to 230c and UV protection from the sun.

My hair was so dry and brittle from the change in weather, lack of moisture, and lack of products in my styling routine, but the Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil has changed my whole ha9ir game; it offers superb benefits without leaving a greasy residue.

It is the perfect oil for any hair type, especially fine hair, thanks to its weightless feel.

Just like the rest of the Olaplex line, the No.7 Bonding Oil contains the same patented bond repairing technology with the key “Bis-Aminopropy Diglycol Dimaleate” ingredient that is a bond multiplier that repairs broken disulfide bonds.

It also is rich in vitamins and fatty acids, which work to restore the hair to its former glory.

Don’t be put off by the dimethicone in the ingredients list, it may be silicone, but it is actually lightweight and water-soluble. It is a great conditioning agent, helps minimize frizz, and helps with hydration– it washes out with water too, so zero buildups!

Olaplex No. 7 has some serious benefits for the styling process and benefiting the health of your hair in general. So let’s kickstart this review with how it works and whether it’s worth the price tag!

How The Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil Works:

Olaplex No. 7 is a highly concentrated, weightless reparative styling oil dramatically increases shine, softness, and color vibrancy. It acts as a heat protectant and protects hair up to a whopping 450⁰F/230⁰C, plus it leaves your hair smelling as sweet as roses.

You’ll notice the difference after a few uses, it repairs damaged and compromised hair, strengthens and protects the hair structure, and restores a healthy look and feel– your hair will be shinier, healthier, and more manageable.

The No.7 Bonding Oil works on a molecular level to repair damaged and broken bonds in the hair caused by chemical, thermal, mechanical, and UV damage. It is suitable for all hair types and free of all the nasty ingredients that damage hair.

Olaplex No. 7 also massively helps those who suffer from frizz too.

It is not only sulfate-free, paraben-free, phthalate, and phosphate-free, but it is also nut-free, gluten-free, vegan, and cruelty-free, like all their products. It speeds up drying time and leaves hair feeling smooth and silky.

It contains fatty acid-rich grapeseed oil, fermented green tea oil, sunflower seed oil, and moringa seed oil, which go hand in hand to nourish, repair, and revitalize the hair. Plus, not to forget the key ingredient “Bis-Aminopropy Diglycol Dimaleate,” which truly works the magic.

Grapeseed oil adds moisture, strengthens the hair, and adds shine. It even helps promote hair growth by creating the perfect environment for growth. Green tea then prevents hair loss by inhibiting the activity of hormones that induces hair loss. It stimulates the hair follicle, which helps promote hair regrowth– I told you this oil isn’t just for styling!

The sunflower seed oil has anti-inflammatory properties which have many benefits for the scalp. It can also help the hair hold onto moisture; it is super lightweight and helps to smooth frizz and flyaways.

Moringa oil not only nourishes the length of your hair but also deeply conditions the hair and scalp to strengthen the hair follicles and promote healthy hair growth. It rejuvenates the hair with essential vitamins and minerals and improves the overall condition of the scalp.

It is extremely concentrated, which is brilliant as it ensures that you’re not applying too much oil at once. By being super concentrated, I mean that a few drops in your hand are enough for your entire head! So while the price is steep, it will last you for months and months.

Whos It For?

Anyone can benefit from using Olaplex No. 7. It has benefits for every hair type, even fine hair. Thanks to its weightless formula, any hair type can benefit from the brilliance of this formula as it doesn’t leave hair looking greasy.

The only drawback of Olaplex No.7  is that it isn’t Curly Girl Method approved because it contains silicones. However, this doesn’t mean those with curly hair cannot benefit from using this formula, as the silicones within this formula are water-soluble!

So this means that they do not build up on the hair and wash out with water. Water-soluble silicones really help aid moisture retention. They create a seal over the ends to lock in moisture and help with frizz.

But not to be confused with their sister non-soluble silicones, which offer the same benefits, but they build up on the hair and require a harsh sulfate shampoo to remove. But don’t worry, these silicones are safe!

Check out my guide on everything you need to know about silicones for the full rundown!

All in all, Olaplex No. 7 is suitable for every hair type. It helps tame frizz and protect hair from thermal heat up to 230ºc, but it also nourishes and protects the hair from environmental stresses, like UV rays and chilly winter winds.

Olaplex No. 7 does it all, really.

What We Think Of The Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil At Beautists:

In my personal opinion, the Olaplex No.7 is one of my favorite products from their line, purely because it minimizes the number of products needed in my hairstyling routine. Even on non-wash days, I can use this oil to refresh my hair tame my frizzy bits, and it acts as my hair’s SPF for the day.

Unlike other hair oils you might find on the market, this oil is super concentrated, so you only really need two drops. So while the price may still be at $28 like the rest of the range, two drops in every use will last you for months.

I have had mine for six months now, and I’ve used just over half of it (I use it every wash day and sometimes in-between washes when my hair needs refreshing). So while it is a steep price tag, to begin with, it is worth the investment.

As for consistency, this oil is very lightweight but nourishing; it is perfect for all hair types– including both fine and coarse hair types. It is brilliant as you notice the difference in nourishment, but it doesn’t weigh the hair down nor leave it greasy.

The smell is also extremely addictive; it has a sweet aroma that smells fruity and tropical but doesn’t overpower too much. I literally just run a few drops through my hair when it’s wet and then comb through with a wide-tooth comb.

It is a solid treatment if you want to apply it before putting your hair in a protective hairstyle, as it will nourish the ends overnight. You can do this in between using Olaplex No.3 once a week to unlock ultimate luscious locks.

For those with curly hair, you can even apply before bed without washing out, just apply a few drops to the ends and put your hair in a protective hairstyle. It will coat your strands and provide a protective shield to lock in moisture and protect against damage.

Olaplex No. 7 will forever be a staple in my routine; it’s worth the investment and gets a big thumbs up from Beautists.
