Cost effective- We all know how expensive skin care can get, and not to mention if it has special properties such as acne treatments or anti aging properties too. Why spend so much money on high end creams when you can make your own from your kitchen, and with all the properties you want!

If all that hasn’t convinced you, have a go at this super simple recipe below. It is easy to make, and loads of fun to make your own organic beauty product your skin will love.

What is a facial cleanser?

A cleanser or face wash is used to remove oil, dirt, makeup and other types of bacteria from the skin. It will also help clear clogged pores and excess oil. Essentially, it’s used to clean skin.

To use a facial cleanser, it’s best to use micellar water and remove makeup first. Wet your face and then use a thin layer of cleanser to massage your face. You can then either rinse off with water or use a warm washcloth keep your skin dry. You can use a cleanser all over your face and neck.

If you don’t use a cleanser with natural ingredients, you’re going to love having your face clean and glowing.

Use a facial cleanser every day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Use it as the first step to your skincare routine.

Oil Cleanser for Dry Skin

Using an oil based cleanser can be a lifesaver for dry skin, particularly during the winter. Heres what you need to do:

Ingredients:

1 ounce carrier oil (sweet almond or grapeseed oil)

6 drops of lavender essential oil

bottle to store mixture

Now, this recipe is really very simple, and is perfect if you have sensitive skin that gets red or irritated easily.

First add the oil- pour the carrier oil into the bottle.

Next, add the essential oil- I have chosen lavender, but you can choose whatever you like, or skip an essential oil altogether if you prefer. Only add a few drops, and mix all the ingredients to dilute the essential oil in the carrier oil.

Patch test- Now your cleanser is ready, you need to conduct a patch test on the side of your wrist to check if you will get a reaction. Leave it on for 24 hours to see if you develop an allergic reaction.

How to use an oil based cleanser

An oil based cleanser like this one is very good for removing makeup, dirt and other impurities from the day. Use it by massaging the cleanser into dry skin to break down dirt, and then use a warm, wet washcloth to remove the cleanser. Follow up with your favorite moisturizer and your skincare routine.

Tips for dealing with dry skin

Here are some additional tips for dealing with dry skin.

Switch your skincare products

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably got a bunch of skincare products, each with different ingredients for different benefits. The truth is, our skin changes a lot throughout the year and due to our environment such as stress, changing season or weather, and even diet or hormones.

Instead of using all of your skincare products and serums at once, try to only stick to one or two max, and rotate use with others. This way your skin gets the benefits of all of them but without overdoing it.

There a few more things you can do to make sure you are using the right products at the right time. Check out the following things you can do.

Check your skin

Rather than just randomly using different ingredients on your dry skin, pay attention to what your skin is doing and how it looks. If your skin changes throughout the year and becomes more oily, then maybe try using different cleansers for those times. If you notice breakouts or fine lines, then you need to adjust your skincare routine accordingly.

Use one new product at a time

As tempting as it is to buy a whole new skincare range, your skin may not react well to it. If you’re thinking about trying a few new products, introduce them one at a time to your skin. Build up use to it over a week in your normal skin routine before introducing another one.

Use a variety of products

Just like our diet, healthy skin requires a variety of nutrients in skincare. Rotate the skincare products you have throughout the year to give your skin all the nutrients it needs, and use them consistently to see results.

Final Thoughts

Making a diy face wash for dry skin is so much easier than you think. The best thing about a natural face cleanser is that you can add good ingredients such as coconut oil, lemon juice, olive oil, honey cleanser, any particular essential oil, tea tree or even apple cider vinegar.

A gentle cleanser that contains raw honey is naturally antibacterial, so homemade face washes with natural oils are going to give you glowing skin. You can make a homemade face wash for your skin type, for example for mature skin or combination skin. Facial cleansers are made with a few drops of your favorite essential oil and mixed with an oil or even organic honey to make a thick paste or a smooth paste you gently massage into your skin. Don’t forget to rinse with lukewarm not cold water.

Facial cleansers can be shop bought or a homemade face wash for your skin type, the decision is yours. Some people like to make their own tomato cleanser or honey cleanser, adapting it for the different skin types is what ultimately makes it work.
