Step by step guide to Mirror Chrome Nails:
Looking to spice up your next manicure with a fresh set of mirror chrome nails but not sure where to start?
Well, you’re at the right place.
Mirror chrome nails have an iridescent shine that compliments every outfit, these manicures become addictive.
When it comes to chrome nail polish I would recommend opting for gel, they may be slightly more expensive but it is definitely worth it, it will last up to 3 weeks without showing signs of chipping.
I have devised a step by step guide, walking you through all the steps, so with a little practice you will be perfecting chrome nails in your home manicure like a boss!
Let’s break it down shall we?
Here’s the full breakdown to get the best mirror chrome nails:
First things first, you’re going to need to grab these things:
– A black gel polish (I love Aimeili’s black gel polish)
– You desired gel top and base coat (I would recommend Aimeili again)
– Chrome powder (Wenida is an excellent choice but you can choose any)
– An eyeshadow applicator
– A UV lamp
Step One: Prep the nail:
Once you’ve got all your kit ready, it’s time to prep the nail.
Firstly, you want to clean the nail, trim, and file them to the desired shape you want. Then, apply a layer of your gel base coat to each, curing under a UV lamp for a minute.
This gives the gel polish something sticky to hold onto. If you’re not a fan of the clean-up, you can put some peel-off base coat around the edges to make clean-up easier.
Step Two: Apply the black gel polish:
Apply your first layer of gel polish and cure it under a UV lamp for up to a minute until the layer is dry, this will act as your base color underneath the chrome.
Once it is dry repeat this step again with a second coat.
Step Three: Buff the chrome powder into your nails:
Once you have finished the step before you want to grab your eyeshadow applicator, dip it into your chrome powder, and buff the chrome powder onto your UV-dried nail.
Use pressure to create friction on the gel nails, this should work after a few rubs– be patient with this step.
This step is super satisfying!
Step Four: Clean up around the edges:
Once you’re happy with the coverage, grab yourself a brush and brush away all the remaining powder around the nail– this may take some time.
If you have used a peel-off base coat or liquid latex, just peel it off from the edges and the excess powder should come with it (It makes life much easier).
Step Five: Apply a gel top coat:
Once you’re happy with the way your nails look then seal the deal with a gel top coat. This will help lock in all of the powder, preserving a mirror like effect for up to 21 days of wear!
Don’t forget to cure this last layer under a UV lamp for a minute or two to prevent chipping, adding to the longevity of this beautiful manicure.
If you want to stand out from the crowd then give these nails a go, they will give a breath taking finish that will last up to 3 weeks, chip free.
Spice up you at home manicures with these beauties, you’ll have everyone complimenting them!
Whether you’re a beginner or looking for new manicure ideas then these are the ones you need, they will compliment any outfit (not to mention the money you will save down the salon).
