  • Eliminates frizz and flyaways for up to 72 hours!
  • Restores damaged hair

Let’s Talk About The Olaplex No. 6:

Olaplex No. 6 is the styling cream of your dreams. It is one of the newest additions to the line and works to tame flyaways, leave hair frizz-free for 72, and speed up drying time.

The description sounds pretty great, but does it live up to the expectation? Let’s put it to the test. Once again, Olaplex has smashed its formulas out of the park and lived up to the dream of “flawless hair.”

But the Olaplex No. 6 is pretty special; in my opinion, we all love a leave-in conditioner, but a leave in conditioner that speeds up drying time, banishes frizz and flyaways for 72 hours, all while repairing the hair– it seems too good to be true.

It is a leave-in conditioner and styling hair all in one amazing formula. It is just like the rest of the line and contains the legendary and award-winning ingredient “Bis-Aminopropy Diglycol Dimaleate,” which works on a molecular level to strengthen the hair.

Plus, with the fruity, citrusy, fresh aromas, this treatment is too addictive not to be in your hair care routine. Just like the rest of the range, it is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, and mineral oil.

In this review, I will be talking to you guys about my honest opinion on Olaplex No. 6 and whether I believe it is worth the steep price tag. I am very much an “Olaplex changed my life” girl because it is truly magic, but I’m here to share whether I think this product should be a staple in your routine or not.

While I would recommend it to anyone, I will be running through whether it is essential or just a treat in your hair routine, as not everyone can splash out on the whole line. So let’s find out!

How The Olaplex No. 6 Works:

The Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother is a highly concentrated leave-in smoothing creme that strengthens, moisturizes, and speeds up blow-drying times. It works to eliminate frizz and flyaways for up to 72 hours; the No. 6 is a serious smooth talker.

This leave-in reparative styling treatment is infused with patented Olaplex Bond Building Technology. It speeds up blow-drying time by smoothing the cuticle.

It is safe to use on colored and chemically treated hair to help repair bonds and deeply nourish while adding shine and softness. The patented system noticeably repairs extreme damage. It turns dry, brittle hair into soft, shiny, and resilient hair.

Now the smell from this bond smoother is addictive! You will be smelling your hair for hours afterward, and it is so noticeable that your partner will even compliment you on it. It will be an absolute game-changer for your hair; it will make damaged hair feel like new!

I’ve even used this styling treatment mixed with no.3, and it makes a wonderful overnight, leaving hair feeling silky, soft, and shiny after washing the next day. You will notice the difference in your hair even after one use.

 Whos It For?

Like the rest of the range, the Olaplex No.6 is suitable for any hair type. It is super lightweight, nourishing, and a little goes a long way. It doesn’t feel heavy like some leave-in conditioners, so it is perfect for finer hair types too.

It is super moisturizing and claims to “tame frizz and flyaways for up to 72 hours”, so while this may seem impossible, I found after using on my frizzy hair, my frizz was minimalized up until the next wash day.

This means that it is also perfect for curly hair types as it helps with frizz, locks in moisture, and speeds up drying time. These are all qualities that are needed for those with curly hair, as these are common issues with this hair type.

However, unlike the Olaplex 0 through until 3, it is not Curly Girl Method Approved as it contains silicones. But these silicones are not bad for hair; despite not being CGM approved, they are water-soluble, so they wash out with water.

Water-soluble silicones are actually really good for any hair type as, unlike their evil twin, non-soluble silicones, they help aid with moisture retention, protect the hair from damage, and most of all, they do not build up on hair!

This is why it made it onto my favorite top 5 favorite Olaplex Products For Curly Hair. Check out that full guide of the top three Olaplex products for curly hair. But all in all, this styling treatment is great for any hair type and texture.

What We Think Of The Olaplex No. 6 At Beautists:

I have been using Olaplex No.6 religiously for a few months now and I am completely hooked. It doesn’t feel heavy, despite its thick consistency. It is super concentrated so all I need is a nail-size dollop and it will be enough for my whole head.

It melts like butter into the hair, so despite the thick consistency, all you need to do is rub it in your hands and it applies so easily to the ends. Plus it LASTS, I used to suffer really bad with frizz but I don’t have any issues anymore since using this treatment.

Olaplex isn’t lying when they said it keeps frizz at bay for up to 72 hours.

It is brilliant for all hair types, but especially damaged hair. I invested in a wet detangling brush and use this to comb through my wet, damaged, brittle hair and since using alongside the Olaplex line, the brush runs through like butter and my hair is visibly and physically stronger.

It certainly does what it says on the tin if Olaplex promises something they deliver! My hair was much more manageable after using, frizz was kept to a minimum and there was no shine quite like this. The smell was also addictive, it keeps my hair smelling fresh for days!

It leaves my hair feeling mega moisturized and so so soft. I personally love Olaplex No.7 with this combo as it nourishes the hair but also offers heat protection during the styling process. But using it with any heat protectant hair oil will work.

Don’t do what I and probably every other girl has done and use too much. When I say you only need the tiniest bit, I mean if you use any more your hair will look greasy and you don’t want to waste any of this precious product.

So for fine hair, a bit as small as your nail will be enough and for thicker hair a dime size is plenty.

My only drawback of this product is the packaging design. Since it is very thick in consistency it is a pain in the ass to get out. You have to tip it upside down and squeeze it so hard, but it’s worth it for the results. Olaplex just needs to rethink the bottle!

Out of the Olaplex range, I would recommend No. 3, 6, and 7. The shampoo and conditioner are great but other leading brands are pretty great too. It’s the Olaplex No. 3 that is the magic wonder, the number 6 is brilliant at keeping frizz at bay and number 7 offers both UV and thermal heat protection in a lightweight formula.

Olaplex No. 6 really lives up to its promises!
