Topics we've covered

Are you an Elemis skincare fan?

If you are you probably already know about Elemis Skincare and the wonders the best skincare products by Elemis can do for your skin. They’ve been at the forefront of skincare since 1989, and have come a long way since. We all know these days that not skincare products are not all made equally. And Elemis, is worth a look at.

There is, however, one product that stands out- the Elemis Skincare cleansing balm. If you’ve read some of my other articles, you’ll know I love Elemis, and their cleansing balm as well as the pro collagen marine cream is one of the reasons. After hearing about this amazing product years ago, I decided I would share some ways to use it so you can get the best results.

But wait, listen to this.

Elemis is a top British skincare brand, and their pride themselves in combining natural ingredients and botanicals, with science to get you the results you need. Trust me on this one, they deliver. If you’re a fan of double cleansing, then you may already be using cleansing balms and cleansing oils. I am going to show you how to use Elemis cleansing balm so you’ll quickly see why so many people swear by it as well as how to incorporate them into your routine.

Let’s get to it!

What is the Elemis Cleansing balm?

There are many different cleansing balms on the market, so what makes Elemis cleansing balm any different? After trying so many other balms, I have discovered the ELEMIS Pro-Colllagen Cleansing balm, and let me tell you it is a gamechanger. It is an emollient rich cleansing balm with a creamy texture that will make your skin get the full spa experience. It smells divine, and really works. Not only is the scent relaxing, helping you to immerse yourself in that spa experience, but it gently removes dirt from your skin. You will notice your skin feels soft, supple and hydrated, not stripped. That’s why I love this balm, since it breaks down every bit of dirt and grime, even makeup but without damaging the skin. You simply massage it in and let it melt into the skin. Not only that, but ELEMIS use essential oils to help carry active ingredients for better results and to help penetrate the skin better. Your skincare doesn’t have to be complicated and boring, thanks to products like ELEMIS is can be an at home spa experience while it works hard to remove everything you don’t want.

How to use Elemis cleansing balm

My favorite part about ELEMIS cleansing balm is that they come in three different variations. There’s the OG Pro-Collagen Cleansing balm which has 9 essential oils such as lavender, chamomile and eucalyptus. There’s the English Rose Oleo Extract that is rose scented and a new Naked version that has the same formula but is fragrance free. You might be thinking, these cleansing balms are a bit pricey, and for $64 a tub you’d be right. However, I would say it is very much worth it since a little goes a long way. Most people won’t finish that tub before 6 months even using it daily. That would be around $10 a month which is not bad if you ask me. In saying that, you want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth by using it the right way.

Here are a few different ways to use Elemis cleansing balms:

A Soothing Makeup Remover

This balm is as smooth as butter, and turns into an oil when you massage it into the skin, helping you to remove makeup easily. You can add a bit of water to help emulsify the product. It has a milky consistency when it cleanses so it doesn’t strip the skin but hydrates it. Then you can use a wet washcloth to remove it from your face along with the makeup and grime from the day.

As a Hydrating Cleanser

An essential step for everyone is cleansing your face from the day’s dirt, whether you wear makeup or not. This balm works best as a cleanser, and is great even for those no makeup days or if you have dry to normal skin. Simply apply it to the skin in a thick layer and massage with your fingertips. As you massage, the balm, hydrates your skin while breaking down dirt and bacteria that’s on the skin/ Finally, take a warm washcloth and press it to the skin, allowing it to absorb some of the product before wiping it off. It won’t leave any residue or film, simply soft, supple skin that feels fresh.

As a Nourishing Facial Mask

My skin tends to get dry in the winter, so I like to apply this balm as face mask to deep cleanse my skin as well as hydrate it. You simply apply it to the skin and leave it on for 10-15 mins and then remove it with a damp cotton cleansing cloth for smooth and soft skin that feels clean.

As a Moisturizing treatment

If you tend to get dry skin, then use this balm to cleanse and hydrate the skin, paying more attention to the areas that are more dry. You can apply it to the skin for 20mins and this will help to repair the skin’s barrier and banish any dry patches.

As a Hydrating Salve

Initially, you might be thinking, why should I use a cleansing balm as a salve? The Elemis cleansing balm is so hydrating that you can actually use it on your cuticles to prevent them getting dry, and use it on any dry patches of skin. Even better if you can leave it overnight as you will wake up with softer, more hydrated skin.

These are just a few different ways you can use the Elemis Cleansing Balm, but there is still one more way to use it that I think you’ll love. Double cleansing is the process of using two different types of cleansers to get rid of dirt and oil on your skin, and can be the secret to getting clear, glowing skin for many people. You can use the Elemis cleansing balm as part of step 1 in your nightly routine, as it is great for removing SPF, waterproof makeup and any dirt and pollution from the day. Then you can go for a different type of cleanser such as the Elemis Pro-collagen Energising cleanser for the second step of double cleansing. They make a perfect duo!

Is the ELEMIS Cleansing balm worth it?

Here are a couple of things we love about the Elemis cleansing balm.

Why we love it:

  • Effectively removes makeup, dirt and oil
  • Leaves skin feeling fresh and hydrated
  • Contains nourishing essential oils
  • Doesn’t contain mineral oil
  • Has a great smell
  • Includes a washcloth

The Elemis Pro-collagen cleansing balm deep cleanses skin with added aromatherapy and skin hydrating natural ingredients.

The Elemis cleansing balm is best used as part of a double cleanse in a nightly routine, although you can also use it daily and nightly as a regular cleanser.

It is best for all skin types, and is used to remove makeup and dirt whilst infusing the skin with hydration.

There are no potential allergens except some essential oils. It also has PEG’s which may be irritating for some people.

It is also cruelty free and retails at around $64 a tub. The brand Elemis is a must have in the luxury beauty department in the UK and has been famous for spa quality skincare all over the world. Their body care products balance nature’s extracts with scientific knowledge.

Elemis Cleansing Balm Review

If you’re trying to upgrade your skincare routine, Elemis is a really good choice. With so many products in their skincare range being top performing products, you can’t go wrong.

Whether you want to remove makeup or hydrate the skin, all the Elemis cleansing balm really works. It has a 3 in 1 approach where it cleanses, hydrates and nourishes. It contains a variety of good oils such as sweet almond seed oil, essential fatty acids, germ oil, flower oil and flower wax, kernel oil, and eucalyptus globulus leaf oil.

The Pro collagen cleansing balm is best applied when you moisten fingertips first, and is suitable for sensitive skin. The best cleansing balm should also be suitable to use as a nourishing face mask and for makeup removal, to keep the skin healthy and get you a glowing complexion. This cleansing milk performs deep cleansing on your skin and turns into as cleansing oil when you massage it in.

I personally love to take a pea sized amount for maximum absorption since it rinses clean after removing makeup. With natural extracts such as citrus aurantium dulcis orange, rosa multiflora and borago officinalis, brown algae, elderberry oil and gamma linolenic acid, it not only removes make up, but nourishes your skin to cleanse it.

Remember, applying it is easy. Simply gently massage in light circular massage movements, and gently wipe it off with a damp cleansing cloth. I love using it to remove eye makeup and as a mask when taking a warm bath.

Have you tried the Elemis cleansing balm?
