What is Cremo Shaving Cream?

Cremo shaving cream is a shaving cream from the company Cremo. It’s designed to give you a close but comfortable shave with its moisturizing formula that works great with sensitive skin.

It has a lavender scent and is designed to prevent any cuts and nicks while shaving as well as nasty side effects like razor rash.

This is a really great product but I’m not here to review it today. instead, we’re going to be looking at how to properly use and get the most from the Cremo shaving cream.

The Right Preparation

Before you even think of applying Cremo’s shaving cream you need to hydrate your skin properly with warm water. This is a key step in the shaving process that all too often gets overlooked.

It’s akin to warming up prior to a workout, you need to prepare your skin in the same way you prepare your muscles and joints.

You may already be aware that warm water opens up your pores and softens your facial hair bristles which leaves your hair cuticles in a much better position to be shaved cleanly. If you don’t get a clean cut then your un the risk of getting ingrown hairs. See how to prevent ingrown hairs for more info.

You could also use some kind of facial cleanser or face wash to help remove debris that may be clogging up your razor. Shaving removes a layer of skin and so dirt can easily get trapped during this process leading to razor bumps, razor rash, and in some cases acne.

Applying Your Cremo Shaving Cream

Coat and Massage – Firstly, you need to gently coat your face with a dime-sized dollop and carefully massage it into the skin using soft circular motions, paying attention to any rougher or problem areas you may have.

Start Small – Now, Cremo’s shave cream provides a thin, filmy layer of lubrication as opposed to your more traditional foamy beard. In which case, less is more for this shaving cream.

Add Where Needed – If you notice that it’s starting to dry quicker than you’d like then adding a few more drops will re-activate it and give you the barrier between the blade and your skin.

No Brush Required

Many thicker shaving creams require a brush to get the right lather and prepare you for application. However, due to Cremo’s thinner cream, you only need to apply it with your hands.

In fact, you’ll struggle with a brush as it won’t lather properly should you attempt to use one. Another tip I’d recommend is that due to its thinner consistency, you need to ensure that you have a sharp razor when shaving with the Cremo shaving cream.

If you’re not sure whether your razor is sharp enough then it may be worth using a new one just to be safe but if you’re still unsure on what makes a razor suitable, check out my article explaining how often you should change your razor. Or you could take a look at how to sharpen hair clippers.
