How To Use Aveda Botanical Repair

So you’ve probably heard of Aveda’s recent release of the Botanical Repair range and probably wondering whether it’s worth the steep price tag that comes with it.

For those looking for a professional hair brand that offers superior damage repair, protection, and prevention from further damage, then Aveda is your brand.

The products may come at a steep price range, but they’re worth it for the quality of ingredients you get, the benefits on your hair, and all in all, the quality.

But what is Botanical Repair, and what makes it so great?

Botanical Repair range uses a multiplying bond molecule that interacts with the hydrogen bonds within the hair shaft. This creates a new network of bonds within the hair. Botanical Repair also smoothes the cuticle without leaving behind too much moisture.

There are five products within the range, and they suit every hair type. For starters, they are sulfate and silicone-free, so they are safe to use on curly and straight hair and come with heaps of benefits.

But now we’ve covered the basics; how do you use botanical Repair? In this article, I will be sharing with you the best way to unlock healthy, damage-free hair using the Botanical repair range from Aveda.

You won’t want to miss this.

What Is Aveda?

Aveda is an American cosmetics company that is environmentally pioneering with its nature-based products for hair, skin, body, and wellbeing. Aveda products are created from pure flower and plant essences, no chemicals, no artificial colors or fragrances.

All these natural products and yet these hair product solutions are so powerful that Aveda calls them prescriptions.

They are a widely recognized path-blazing brand of nature-based products. They state in their story that:

“Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world.”

Aveda is setting a path for other brands to follow; it is the future of sustainable hair care.

What Is Aveda Botanical Repair?

So what is Aveda Botanical Repair and how does it work?

Aveda’s Botanical Repair range uses bond-building technology like competitors like Olaplex but uses plant-derived ingredients.  Botanical Repair is a plant-derived, bond-building treatment formulated for all hair types and textures.

It leaves hair feeling stronger, shinier, and naturally full of life.

Prevention is always better than a cure, so Aveda uses this goal” Strengthen. Prevent. Protect”. These treatments are designed to strengthen and help protect three key layers of damaged hair with plant-derived technologies.

Strengthen- The Cortex: The plant-derived bond-multiplying molecule penetrates to the inner cortex to strengthen damaged hair from within.

It bonds with broken or damaged bonds within the hair to visibly and physically strengthen har strands from the inside out.

Prevent- The Cuticle: The nourishing macro green blend with avocado, green tea, and sacha inchi oils smooth the cuticle to detangle and prevent breakage in damaged hair.

Protect- The F-Layer: The plant-derived complex mimics the hair’s outer F-layer to help protect damaged hair. The F-Layer is the workhorse behind healthy hair; it is the outmost group of water-repelling molecules that encase the hair cuticle.

The F-layer keeps hair soft and fights off damage caused by heat styling or frequent exposure to water. By Aveda mimicking this quality in the hair within their botanical Repair, it means that this range doesn’t just Repair but also protects and prevents damage from occurring again.

Pretty cool, right? Well, within this range, they offer a leave-in treatment, strengthening masque, shampoo, and conditioner. This full range will transform your hair but if you don’t want to invest, then take a trip to an Aveda salon for this treatment.

This range is at least whopping 94% naturally derived, sulfate-free, and silicone-free; they don’t call it award-winning for nothing.

How To Use Aveda Botanical Repair:

Everyone deserves the whole Botanical range to repair your hair, and they actually follow a step-by-step routine to repair, protect and prevent further damage.

I’m going to break down how you’d use the whole botanical range, but from this list, you can decide which products suit you best.

Step One: Use The Aveda Botanical Repair Shampoo:

You’ll want to start off your repairing routine with the Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening shampoo. This plant formula uses a three-layer hair repair system from the f-layer all the way to the cortex.

Using 94% naturally derived, it gently removes excess oil, product buildup, and pollution to give your hair the ultimate reset.

It does this while maintaining the integrity of your hair to strengthen from within. So it removes buildup but also strengthens.

Step Two: Use The Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Conditioner:

What’s a shampoo without your conditioner? So following your shampoo, make sure you go in with your Botanical Repair Strengthening Conditioner.

But this conditioner instantly detangles, prevents breakage, and repairs from the inside out.

The Botanical Repair Conditioner improves the look and feel of damaged hair using plant-derived technologies.

Just like the shampoo, the conditioner conditions and instantly detangles to help reduce breakage. The plant-infused formula helps make hair feel stronger. It helps build bonds within the hair using bond multiplying technology.

In doing so, it helps to reduce damage-related frizz and flyaways and improves the overall condition of the hair. It lightly conditions the hair and is perfect for everyday use without weighing the hair down. It is so lightweight but deeply repairing.

The shampoo and conditioner from this collection go hand in hand and deserve five stars.
Just towel dry your hair slightly using a microfiber towel (recommended for damaged hair), and then apply to the ends of your hair and use your fingers to detangle.

By towel drying slightly before applying the conditioner, it allows for it to penetrate deeper into the hair strands and work its magic.

After all, the water can just cause a barrier over the hair and prevent the conditioner from penetrating from the f-layer to the cortex.

So apply to your ends, detangle using your fingers and leave it on for a minute while you wash your body, then rinse.

Step Three: Use The Aveda Repair Intensive Strengthening Masque

Aveda offers both light and rich intensive strengthening masks which are suitable for either fine or thick hair. The one for thicker hair is slightly more moisturizing, so it is better for coarse hair in need of a bit of moisture as well as repair.

So for fine to medium hair types, you should opt for the light masque, and for medium to thick hair, opt for the rich masque.

Don’t worry; you’re not missing out; each mask is built with the same nourishing ingredients that intensely condition the hair; it works to repair cuticles and restore moisture to each strand using plant lipids.

The only difference between the two is that the rich one contains 50% more butters and lipids to make the product more nourishing for thicker hair.

It works to strengthen the hair’s integrity at the core to help reduce breakage. This plant-derived complex helps strengthen all three key layers of the hair fiber from the F-layer all the way to the cortex. It really does strengthen from the inside out.

Aveda offers both rich and light for the Botanical Repair strengthening mask, so those with any hair thickness can benefit from using this mask. It contains 98% naturally derived ingredients, making them perfect for repairing any hair type.

Using this hair masque 1 to 2 times a week in replacement of the conditioner on wash days is a great way to restore and repair your hair from damage.

After shampooing, towel dry your hair with a microfiber towel until damp and then apply to the ends of your hair. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb and then leave it on for 2-5 minutes, then rinse.

If you have a bit of time on your hands, then you can leave it on your hair for 20-30 minutes for an extra restorative treatment.

Step Four: Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment:

If you have damaged hair, then you absolutely need to implement a leave-in conditioner into your routine. It protects your hair during the styling process, locks in moisture, strengthens, and helps detangle.

This is where Aveda Botanical repair shines; this 99% naturally derived leave-in treatment both repairs and prtoects the hair fibers as well as increases softness and shine instantly.

Unlike other leave-in treatments, this one comes with a heat protectant all built into the same formula. It protects hair up to a whopping 230ºc / 440ºf.

So your hair is protected from blow-drying and heat styling.

You can see the Strengthen, Prevent, Protect throughout this entire line as it works to strengthen and repair and then protect the hair from further damage.

But wait, the Botanical Repair Leave-In Treatment even helps protect hair from UV rays and drying effects from the sun.

It instantly detangles and reduces breakage, leaving hair feeling soft and smooth with luxurious slip.

So, once you’ve shampooed and conditioned your hair, towel dry and apply this treatment to the ends of your hair, and then detangle using your wide-tooth comb. Then style like usual.

This treatment is brilliant at locking in moisture; it is deeply conditioning and transforms your hair after a single use. It even helps tame frizz and flyaways, and overall improves the condition of your locks.

Summary:

The botanical repair is by far the most popular collection within the range. It transforms damaged and limp hair and leaves it bouncy and full of life.

Botanical repair follows a three-step goal “Strengthen. Protect. Prevent” which goes hand in hand to repair existing damage, prevent further damage and protect the hair from environmental and everyday stresses.
