How To Remove Peach Fuzz

Peach fuzz may sound cute and friendly, but it can be a pain if you’ve got a lot of it, particularly on your face. For some, it is admittedly a legitimate problem and confidence sucker, but if you’ve never thought about it before then it’s best not to get wrapped up in trying to get rid of peach fuzz as it can be hard not to get carried away.

There’ll always be stray hairs after you shave your face, legs, etc. So trying to remove every hair follicle is going to be tough and take more time than it’s worth.

However, this doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to get rid of some of the more obvious peach fuzz that may crop up so read on and you’ll learn about loads of new hair removal methods.

Facial Hair Removal Methods

Waxing

Waxing is a long-favored hair removal method that rids unwanted peach fuzz from your body. The effects last up to around a month and all it requires is some hot wax (or waxing strips). You can go to a professional waxing service or do this yourself which more and more people are trying.

However, waxing can be a harsh exfoliation process that comes with some side effects, especially if you’ve got sensitive skin. Things like ingrown hairs, razor bumps, and razor burn are all risks you should be aware of when shaving. Use a calming oil or moisturizer with as few toxic or abrasive ingredients as possible as this will only increase the odds of you getting skin irritation.

Dermaplanning

Dermaplaning is an anti-aging treatment with the added benefit of removing facial hair. It involves the use of a flat razor to scrape off the top layer of skin. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair, or as we better know it, peach fuzz on the surface of your skin. But as a downside, it doesn’t remove hair at the root. This method will leave your skin feeling smooth too so it definitely has its perks even if it is a little pricey.

Tweezing

Plucking is probably one of the worst things you could do as over time this will stimulate the blood supply to the follicles, resulting in thicker and stronger hairs. It’s also a strenuous process as pulling every individual hair out one by one isn’t anybody’s idea of fun.

Threading

Threading is an eyebrow hair removal technique that involves using threads to quickly pull and remove hair. Two long threads are twisted in unison to pluck the hair out with a quicker movement than tweezing. It’s ideal for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin because the swiftness of the threads moving along the skin lessens the chance of irritation and ingrown hairs.

Another benefit of threading is precision. Unlike waxing, threading will pick up even the shortest of hair follicles to give you a seamless and clean look.

Sugaring

This hair removal method has been used for centuries and involves applying a natural paste to the skin and gently extracting hair in the natural direction of growth. Sugaring is different than waxing in that the sugar paste won’t remove the top layer of skin, so it’s much easier on the skin.

The paste is also able to catch the hair at the first stage of growth, so you don’t have to wait until your hair is a certain length before you can start the hair removal process.

Electrolysis

This is a more permanent hair removal solution. Electrolysis sends electric currents through the follicles to remove hairs and stop new ones from growing. However, it’s a lengthy process that requires a lot of commitment.

Laser Hair Removal

The next best thing when it comes to permanent hair removal, a laser is used to target your hair’s pigment, singeing the hair and killing it. Laser hair removal is commonly used to target hair on the upper lip and chin as these are the most common places as well as the least wanted places for peach fuzz to grow. You’ll need a fair few treatments, but usually more on your face as hair growth there is often hormonal. This is a really effective method and one that’s become increasingly popular in recent years.

Hair Removal Creams

Hair removal creams work by dissolving the hair right down to the root. Hair removal creams can irritate the skin or cause an adverse dermatological reaction based on your skin type and the brand you choose.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it ok to remove peach fuzz from your face?

Peach fuzz is translucent, soft hair that appears during childhood. While its purpose is to thermally protect the body by insulation and cooling through perspiration, there’s nothing wrong with removing it.

How long does it take for peach fuzz to come back?

As a rule of thumb, peach fuzz on the face takes several weeks to grow back, which for most women means about 3 to 4 weeks. This length of time is dictated by the natural thickness of your peach fuzz, the amount you normally have, and your hormones, which may cause hair to grow more or less quickly.

Does removing peach fuzz make it grow back worse?

Many people think that shaving your legs or underarms causes thicker hair growth but this is merely a myth. It’s biologically impossible for hair to grow back thicker because of shaving.

Is it ok to wax peach fuzz?

Waxing is one of the most common ways to get rid of peach fuzz. It’s low on pain, super-fast, and can be done with expert hands, which can help ease any nerves. It’s a great method because it pulls hair out completely from the root so the small black hair follicles don’t show like when you shave.

Does peach fuzz cause stubble?

It’s common to feel a little stubble as your hair starts growing back in after removing your excess facial hair. This doesn’t mean that your hair is thicker or more coarse. It has to do with the way each hair was cut straight across. The hair feels different to you, but it’s the exact same texture and color as it was before you shaved.
