Love the idea of Olaplex, but do not love the price tag? You and me both girl. While a little goes a long way with Olaplex we are all thinking it, isn’t there something cheaper that does a similar job? Don’t get me wrong I love Olaplex, but $28 a bottle is quite steep.

But is there something cheaper and just as good?

I have spent the time to find the best Olaplex dupe on the market, that is worth the investment! It offers similar effects on your hair at a quarter of the price, while they won’t work as well as the legendary Olaplex, they still offer great results!

The key active ingredient that makes Olaplex so brilliant is “Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate,” is a single molecule that dramatically improves hair strength, protecting and repairing from the inside out. So dupes tend to use similar if not the same ingredient to achieve similar effects.

So is it worth buying a dupe over the real thing?

Well, there are some pretty incredible Olaplex Dupes on the market, that work to repair broken disulfide hair bonds to repair the hair structure and help with hair breakage. These treatments will help promote healthy hair at a far cheaper price point.

So stay tuned for the best Olaplex dupes on the market.

Best Olaplex Dupes That Just As Good As The Real Thing

1.

OGX Restoring + Bonding Plex Bonding Cream

best olaplex dupe for damaged hair

Coming in at the number one spot is a personal favorite Olaplex No.6 dupe. It is a leave-in conditioner that is blended to offer superior protection and deep conditioning for overly processed, damaged hair—leaving hair feeling silky soft, and shiny.

It is a salon hair treatment that deep conditions, helps your hair retain moisture, soothe damage caused by hair dye and chemical treatment for your hair. It helps improve the condition of hair and keep the hair hydrated; it is a brilliant post bleach treatment.

Whether you need quenching moisture for curly hair, heat protection for heat styling, this OGX dupe of Olaplex No. 6 is pretty incredible when it comes to providing a protective barrier over the hair strands to protect your luscious locks when heat styling.

But want to know how this beauty works?

After shampooing and conditioning, apply to towel-dried hair. You will only need a dime-sized amount of this bonding cream, run it through damp hair from mid-lengths to ends, and style as usual. Just like Olaplex, a little goes a long way for repairing broken bonds to strengthen hair.

You can use this product alongside their Bonding Plex shampoo and conditioner.

This bonding treatment not only helps strengthen and repair after chemical treatments, but it can also help combat frizz. It works to smooth the cuticle while styling to help tame frizz. It is what makes this product so brilliant for all hair types.

For an Olaplex No. 6 dupe, this one is pretty incredible; just remember to use it alongside your chosen heat protectant to prevent further heat damage. The OGX Bonding Plex Bonding Cream will leave hair shiny and hydrated.

Pros
  • Conditions, hydrates and helps with moisture retention
  • Great dupe for Olaplex No. 6
  • Protects the hair shaft
  • Helps with frizz
Cons
  • May need to use alongside a heat protectant

Revolution Haircare Plex 3 Bond Restore Treatment

BEST OLAPLEX No. 3 Dupe

So this is a pretty incredible hair dupe for the Olaplex No. 3 treatment. So say goodbye to dry, damaged hair without breaking your bank with the Revolution Haircare Plex Range. The Plex 3 is used as a conditioning treatment before shampooing– like Olaplex 3.

Revolution Plex uses a triple molecular weight protein cascade system to target different layers of the hair fiber to help aid in repairing and strengthening hair strands from within. It helps repair broken bonds like the legendary Olaplex No. 3 but at a third of the price.

It has been professionally formulated to provide the best ingredients for healthy hair. The protein system is made from three different types of plant protein which are known to target different parts of the hair fiber to help keep hair healthy and hydrated.

After all, we want our hair’s strongest bonds.

Revolution Plex uses a combination of Phytantriol and Provitamin B5 work to keep hair hydrated and healthy, whilst a blend of conditioning agents helps to soften and smooth the hair. In combination with their 4, 5, and 6 products, you can have the key to healthy hair; it offers an addictive frizz-free shine.

Just like with the Olaplex 3, rinse your hair under the shower until hair is wet and then towel dry hair. Apply to the mid-lengths and ends and comb through using a wide-tooth comb. Leave on for at least 10 minutes (I like to use it overnight).

Follow this treatment with a shampoo and condition the next day, this hair treatment works wonders on damaged hair, and it is very similar to Olaplex No. 3 that is used in hair salons. You can use it once or twice a week for ultimate damage repair.

These Olaplex alternatives are just getting better and better for repairing damaged hair bonds.

Pros
  • Great Olaplex No. 3 dupe
  • Repairs damaged and broken bonds
  • Offers shine and helps combat frizz
  • Staple Olaplex dupe for your hair care routine
Cons
  • Contains silicones

Redken Bonding Shampoo

Best Olaplex shampoo dupe

I actually, in some ways, prefer Redken to Olaplex, and so do many other professionals like myself. But that being said this is Redken is a professional brand that offers a wide range of shampoos; their Bonding Shampoo offers similar benefits to Olaplex.

The Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate is Redken’s most concentrated all-in-one formula for strength repair on all types of damaged hair. This ultra-rich, luxurious sulfate-free shampoo offers the ultimate strength repair, as well as intense conditioning.

This shampoo will not only strengthen hair but also offers color fade protection, a great alternative to Olaplex!

Redkens pH-balancing shampoo helps maintain your hair’s natural pH by featuring citric acid. This concentrated bonding care complex helps reinforce weakened hair bonds to improve hair strength.

It is specifically formulated with an acidic pH to help defend against the damage caused by hair coloring, chemical treatments, styling tools, and even mechanical and environmental damage such as humidity, overbrushing, and much more.

You will be left with shiny hair as if you’ve just walked straight out of the salon.

But that’s not even the best bit! Redken Acidic Bonding Shampoo offers 56% less breakage, 82% less visible split ends 11x smoother hair for all hair types and textures. It is the ultimate shampoo for repair, intense conditioning, and color fade protection.

Schwarzkopf Professional Keratin Restore Bonding Mask

Now for many of us, we want to buy Olaplex for the benefits of bleached hair. Chemical treatments can put a lot of toll on our hair strands, so Olaplex works best to repair these bonds and restore hair to its former glory. This hair mask is a great alternative!

It is an intensive, pigment-enriched treatment that creates new bonds and retains the blonde color. It works to create new bonds within the hair fibres. It works wonders for dry, damaged, porous hair by making it easier to manage while restoring the internal structure.

I love these Olaplex alternatives!

It not only works to repair broken hair, but this pigment-enriched treatment contains naturally warm color pigments to help refresh warm blondes and dull, washed-out blonde tones.

It contains moisturizing panthenol to balance the hair’s natural water content, which is brilliant at delivering moisture and helping to add moisture as well as retaining moisture, making this treatment ideal for those with highly porous hair.

It creates that healthy shine that everyone loves.

This conditioning treatment hair mask is expertly designed to completely maintain the hair structure of fragile, lightened hair shafts and colored hair. It is creamy in texture and leaves hair feeling soft and rejuvenated, and works well on all blondes.

It will even help with the detangling. It is yet another treatment that takes similar qualities from the Olaplex No.3 and 8 to create a hair mask that offers brilliance to strengthen hair that can be used as a weekly deep conditioning treatment.

Yet another brilliant Olaplex dupe!

ApHogee Intensive 2 Minute Keratin Reconstructor

Coming in last but certainly not least for the best Olaplex dupes is this brilliant Keratin 2 Minute Reconstructor by ApHogee. It works slightly differently than Olaplex because it contains magnesium and protein-modified proteins that fuse into the hair with heat.

However, it works to strengthen the hair against heat and chemical damage like Olaplex.

These ingredients make the hair strands stronger and less likely to break. If your hair is too weak or fine after chemical treatments, then this treatment can be used weekly like the Olaplex No.3. Or it can be used as a pre-salon treatment to strengthen hair before these chemical processes.

This hair mask works to strengthen damaged hair from heat and chemical damage; it can also be used on curly hair to repair broken bonds and strengthen the hair shaft from within. However, it works best on tinted, relaxed, colored, or bleached hair.

You can even use it to repair damage caused by chlorine and hard water.

This two-minute reconstruction is a super powerful strengthening hair mask that works wonders on damaged hair. It helps hair to maintain moisture, rebuild strength and elasticity, soothes irritated scalp, and helps strengthen the ends.

You can count on this hair mask to protect and repair your damaged ends!

Pros
  • 2 minute treatment to repair and restore
  • Can be used to repair bonds caused by chemical treatments
  • Helps to retain moisture, rebuild strength and elasticity
  • Affordable
Cons
  • None

Best Dupe For Olaplex-- A Buyer’s Guide:

Olaplex is a well-renowned brand within the hair industry, but they tend to be on the higher end of the price range. Their products do work wonders; after all, they are far more concentrated than your next brand, so a little will go a long way– hence the price tag.

But do you really need to invest in Olaplex? Are the dupes just as good?

There are many Olaplex dupes on the market; while they may not be as good as the real thing, they are pretty incredible for the price tag. A personal favorite of mine is the Revolution London Plex range; they offer a brilliant dupe range at one-third of the price.

In this buying guide, I will be running through everything you need to know when buying Olaplex dupes, whether they are worth it or whether it is worth investing in Olaplex itself. I will also provide some handy hacks to finding the best Olaplex dupes on the market.

What Is Olaplex?

So what exactly is Olaplex, and why does it come with such a steep price tag? Well, Olaplex is a renowned brand in the hair industry, best known for repairing broken disulfide bonds within the hair. These broken bonds cause hair to become brittle, leading to damage.

Olaplex works to repair compromised hair and help repair these bonds caused by thermal, chemical, environmental, and mechanical damage.

Olaplex’s Patented Bond Building Technology works on a molecular level. Their main ingredient, “Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate,” is a single molecule that dramatically improves hair strength, protecting and repairing from the inside out.

All hair types (natural, curly, fine, straight, etc.) all benefit from using Olaplex. We derive most of our integrity from healthy, properly paired disulfide bonds. When hair is damaged, these bonds are broken apart, which results in breakage.

So what’s with the steep price tag?

Well, for starters, the scientific patented technology that goes into their products goes unmatched; you cannot beat the results you get from using Olaplex. Plus, all their products are extremely concentrated, meaning that a little goes a long way.

So, in short, yes, they are definitely worth the price tag. The best hair professionals swear by Olaplex because it works to strengthen hair from the inside out; Olaplex has changed the entire hair game by repairing near-impossible strands.

So if your hair is extremely damaged and you want healthy shine, stronger, and the ultimate restoration, then Olaplex is worth getting over any dupe; it offers impossible transitions to take place and repair to happen that seems impossible.

Are Olaplex Dupes Worth It?

Yes and no, there are some pretty great Olaplex dupes out there from other professional and drugstore brands, but either these dupes are just as expensive or contain silicones and sulfates, which are not ideal for the hair. So it’s all about being savvy in your search.

Olaplex uses a distinct active ingredient “Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate,” that works on a molecular level. So while many dupes try and replicate this, they haven’t quite got it down to a tee just yet. This is why Olaplex is above many other brands.

My two favorite Olaplex dupes are Redken and Revolution. Redken doesn’t really count as a dupe because it is a leading competitor with Olaplex, but Revolution’s dupe has been raved about across social media.

Redken pH Bonder works just as well at repairing hair bonds, plus it is much cheaper than their usual range costing only £13. However, they do not offer this over in the States, so the next best thing is the Acidic Bonding range which is a similar price to Olaplex.

The Revolution Plex range is a great budget-friendly drugstore dupe. It offers some similar qualities to Olaplex, but since it is a drugstore brand, it is not as high quality. Plus, it is not suitable for all hair types as it contains silicones which will build up on your hair without using sulfate shampoo.

Olaplex, however, does not have any direct dupes, just products that are very similar products that are worth considering, but in general, most of the close dupes are similar in price, so you may as well invest in the Olaplex range.

You only really need Olaplex No. 3 as a minimum and potentially the shampoo and conditioner. That way, you can reap all the benefits that Olaplex has to offer without breaking your bank. Plus, for most of their products, you only need a pea-sized amount, so they’re worth the investment.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Here are some of the top frequently asked questions around Olaplex dupes:

Does olaplex have a dupe?

While Olaplex doesn’t have a direct dupe, there are some products that are very similar. Their ingredients work together to mend broken and damaged hair bonds to make hair more manageable. Redken is brilliant for replicating this process.

I personally love Redken as an alternative to Olaplex, it is by far my favorite Olaplex dupe, but it tends to have a similar price tag. Both brands work to repair the hair cuticle and hair bonds within the strand on the inside out.

So while there are no direct dupes, there are some similar brilliant products to try.

Is there a dupe for Olaplex No. 3?

As I just said, there are no direct dupes for Olaplex, but my favorite close Olaplex dupe is from the Revolution Haircare Plex range. Their No. 3 is a brilliant pre-treatment before shampooing and conditioning to help repair damaged strands.

Unlike Olaplex, Revolution contains silicones in their Plex 3 product, so it is not an ideal choice for those with curly hair. A great alternative is B3 Instant Restore & Protect Reconstruct, which is very similar to Olaplex 3 and doesn’t contain silicones.

However, this treatment is actually more expensive than Olaplex itself, so if you’re looking for a dupe, then you may as well go for Olaplex.

Is there a dupe for Olaplex No. 6?

Yes and no; as I said earlier, there are no direct dupes for Olaplex, but there are brands that have used similar ingredients to create their own “dupe” of the product. I personally love OGX Bonding Plex Bonding Cream as a dupe for No. 6.

It works to smooth the hair cuticle and protect the hair when styling. It is one of the cheapest Olaplex dupes around and contains a shampoo and conditioner as well as the styling cream. It works wonders to reduce frizz and help to repair damaged hair.

However, there are traces of silicones in these products, which means it is not ideal for those doing the Curly Girl Method.

Summary

As Olaplex becomes more and more popular in the professional hair industry and across social media, dupes keep popping up from nowhere. There are some pretty incredible Olaplex dupes on the market that are just like Olaplex.

So if you’re looking for an alternative to Olaplex, then you are not out of luck. There are many to choose from for an affordable price point. But just a top tip before you delve into your search, look out for silicones and sulfates as they can actually damage your hair!

Just a piece of advice, if you’re looking for an Olaplex dupe and find one that is similar in price, then invest in Olaplex as many dupes are less concentrated than the real thing, so the Olaplex will most likely last you longer.
