Now I have been using beauty blenders and makeup sponges for as long as I can remember doing makeup– they’re an absolute ESSENTIAL in my beauty kit. 

This is why I’m here to review the King of makeup sponges with BeautyBlender it’s self, I’ve heard so much hype about this product, and I’m here today to see whether it’s worth the money. 

At first glance, this beauty blender is an award-winning, premier edgeless, high-definition cosmetic sponge that offers a flawless blend and a gorgeous classic pink design. 

I love a blending sponge as much as the next girl, but I always seem to find that without damping down the sponge, it soaks up all the foundation before it even hits my face– not fun. 

But here’s the magic!

With BeautyBlender, their design is aqua-activated, offering an airbrushed application while using minimal product. This sponge grows twice in size when activated with water– you heard me TWICE in size.

Let’s break down the key features to see if it is worth the hype: 

Aqua-activated: 

The beauty blender is aqua-activated, which essentially means that it grows when soaked with water, preventing any product from being absorbed into the sponge. 

After running under lukewarm water, the sponge should double in size and provide a smooth blend and bounce while applying your favorite foundations and creams.

Non-Toxic:

Beautyblender even offers a beautyblender cleanser separately for easy cleaning, which I thought was a nice touch.  I would recommend washing your beauty blender regularly and replace it every 3-6 months.

Now beauty blenders and sponges are commonly used to apply foundation and the base of your makeup, but beautyblender can be used to apply all kinds of makeup, not just foundation! 

You heard me– cream blushes, bronzers, and highlighters can be used with the beautyblender for that added glow and airbrushed finish to your final look. 

It is even a perfect pair for applying pressed powder! Brushes tend to sweep product around rather than deposition it to control oil and wiping away shine in the wrong places. The beautyblender, however, focuses on the areas and applies pressed powder like a dream. 

Make sure you squeeze out the excess water, dip in your powder pan and use it like you usually would; it will transform your makeup setting completely.

I always use this beauty blender to apply and blend my foundation and set my face– the overall finish of my makeup has been transformed! 

Small and portable: 

Thanks to it being aqua-activated, the beautyblender is small in size before it is hit by water. 

This makes it super easy to store away in your makeup bag or handbag for use on the go, damp it down with water, and doubles in size! 

At first glance, you may be shocked how small it is and may ask yourself, how on earth will this blend on my face, but once you’ve wetted it down, it becomes much bigger! 

It’s super soft to touch and feels nice when you dab the foundation in your face; it won’t make the application or the finish feel cakey. 

Summary: 

So what’s my overall verdict of the Beautyblender Makeup Sponge? I think it’s an absolute gem for makeup application. 

It is small and portable, but it will double in size when you damp it down, creating a soft and bouncy applicator to apply your foundation, creams, and even setting powder. 

If you love a dewy yet full coverage look that will cover up all your impurities, then you need to try this one out; it changed my makeup game massively!
